Volvo Distributor

Volvo is a vehicle brand which in many years has been leading the market of heavy-duty trucks. Before the 1990s ended, Volvo Cars still manned the creation of all segments it produces. But then, it sold automobile manufacturing to Ford Motor Company due to increase of production cost, considering the fact that it’s a small producer when compared to others. It concentrated in developing truck manufacture instead, where it already has set stability. Today, Volvos that are set on opposite poles emerged successful.

The reason of Volvo’s success is primarily because of the sophisticated technology, specifically the one injected unto the engine. And its continuous evolution would bring more notable achievements to the company. Volvo passenger vehicles as well as trucks which use fuel for power generation normally run by the help of internal combustion engines. And with the job being done by a distributor, the engine starts the combustion process. Significantly, it is a mechanically driven device that acts as ignition system of the internal combustion engine which is responsible of directing voltage in correct firing order to the spark plugs at a predetermined point of the piston stroke. These days though, many automobiles are created distributor less.

Volvo DistributorA Volvo distributor is typically separated into three sections, the upper, middle and lower section. It is comprised of distributor rotor, distributor shaft and distributor cap. They are the terminals responsible for transferring current to the wires leading to the spark plugs. In the mid section, the corners of the spinning breaker cam strike the breaker arm and separate the points at about 160 miles an hour. The high voltage ignited by the ignition coil travels to the rotor whirling inside a circle of high-tension terminals in the distributor cap.

Located on the upper end of the distributor shaft, the rotor then rotates to direct force given by the cam shaft through the use of centrifugal advance mechanism. And then the high tension current is distributed to the towers of the distributor cap. The distributor cap houses the distributor rotor. It is where the high voltage coming from the ignition coil is being brought to before it pass through the metal projection in the cap, and then to the spark plug. On top of the distributor cap is where the high tension spark jumps until it reaches each cap terminals.
