Toyota Paseo Accessories
Long before the domination of the sports utility
vehicle, the sports car has been the primary vehicle on the road.
During the nineties, as performance, style, and size matters for every
car owner, the popularity of the sports car was unbeatable. This was
also the period when the Toyota released their sleek coupe Paseo. as an
alternative for the more performance-driven Toyota Celica. The smaller,
cheaper, and more economical Paseo compared to the Celica competes with
the Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe, the Hyundai S Coupe and the Nissan Exa.
The first Toyota Paseo was released as a front
wheel drive which shares its wheelbase with the Toyota Tarcel. It
replaced the 2-door Corolla GT-S and SR5 in the same year. The Paseo
was powered by the 1.5 L 4 cylinder engine that could produce up to 100
horsepower and 91 pound feet of torque, a power which it shares with
the Tarcel. On other places, the Paseo is rated only at 93 horsepower
with the same rate of torque. But how could it be called a sports car
with this kind of power? Simple: keep the weight to a minimum. The
power-to-weight ratio makes it achieve performance which is completely
different from Paseo’s Spanish meaning which is walk or stroll.
Generally, the Paseo looks like the Tarcel but
some notable differences including the 14 inches wheel rather than
retaining the 13 inches from the Tarcel and an improved suspension.
Exterior is rather unique with the Paseo. The sporty hood that runs
through the rear provides the whole vehicle with stunning appearance.
With regards to safety, the Paseo is equipped with stabilizer bar,
antilock braking, driver-side and passenger-side airbags, and
automatic-locking retractors. And when we speak of price, the Paseo is
very reasonable.
Improving the performance and the looks of the
Paseo requires several accessories that are exclusively made for the
model. And although it was discontinued at the second half of the
nineties, several accessories are abundantly available. |
