Pontiac began as a company in 1893. Founded by Edward M. Murphy, then the Pontiac Buggy Company based in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan started as a horse-drawn carriage producer. By 1907, Edward M. Murphy decided to create motor car with Oakland Motor Car Company at the same time withdrawing the carriage production. Two years later, as the horse was replaced by motor engine, General Motors bought half of Oakland in an exchange of stock and later bought the whole company.

Over the next period of years, Pontiac continued making quality and powerful cars. One of their greatest breaks was the birth of the muscle car era wherein they have created one of their very best and strongest cars. This period presented the world the capability of Pontiac to produce cars with strength, speed, style. Pontiac cars are powered by V8 engines. This era also gave the company the prestige of having the fastest engine on the planet with their 4 engine Pontiac powered the vehicle to 406 mph.
