The last production of the 190 series was in 1993 offering 4 trims: E 2.3, E 2.3 Ltd. Edition which both can produce up to 130 horsepower and 146 pounds-feet of torque, E 2.6, and E 2.6 Ltd. Edition which can reach a higher 158 horsepower and 162 pounds-feet of torque. The 190 series was fast, small, and not as luxurious as the higher model but better compared to cars of its class. The 190 soon became the reference of the future compact Mercedes Benz, the C Class series.
