In 1959, the name Town Car appeared on the Lincoln line of cars not yet as a model but as a version of the standard Lincoln Continental. Upon introduction, the Town Car was seen as the vehicle with grandeur which was offered only in black with a padded vinyl top, a feature not common at that time. The next decades of Town Car production remained relatively unchanged preserving the whole legacy of the original ‘59 version. Exactly 22 years later, in 1981, the Town Car became a model in its own right by replacing the Continental model at the same year. The vehicle shared the Ford Panther platform with Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis. In 1990, the untouched Town Car design went through a thorough redesign adapting to the paradigm shift of its time. This year also brought trim models such as Executive, Signature, and Cartier in to picture. Year after year, the Lincoln Town Car design was improved and engine upgraded which include the introduction of the 5.0 L V8, 150 hp and the 4.6 L V8, 205 hp.

Today, the Lincoln Town Car represents a contemporary design entirely different from the pasty Town car models. The luxury car offers seating for six, a Dual-zone Electronic Temperature Control, and the Lincoln Soundmark® THX™ Certified Audio System. The Quad-beam halogen headlamps provide maximum illumination with optional High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps on selected trims. Opening its doors welcome the luxurious seats and deluxe seats. The Lincoln Town Car is powered by the Lincoln V-8 which is capable of producing 239 hp and 287 lb.-ft. of torque coupled with four-speed electronic automatic transmission with overdrive. Responsible for the smooth ride is the improved suspension which features the monotube shock absorbers, stabilizer bars, and the load-leveling rear air springs.
