Lincoln Clear Corners
Lincoln is a brand of luxury automobiles
based in America and operated under the Ford Motor Company. Lincoln had
its modest beginning when a man named Henry Leland formed the Lincoln
Motor Company after he left the Cadillac division of the General Motors
during the first World War. Originally, Lincoln was founded to build
Liberty aircraft engines but after the war, Lincoln factories were
revamped and started manufacturing luxury automobiles. The most
difficult trying time of financial trouble came to knock upon the
company's door which lead to its buy-out by Ford in 1922 which in turn
considered by Ford as a personal victory.

One of the foremost and perhaps the most important car ever produced by
the Lincoln is the Continental, a European-styled car that is basically
the opposite of the boxy-type cars being produced by Ford during that
time. The Continental was designed only for the purpose of being driven
by Edsel Ford, Henry Ford's son for personal use, but because of its
unusual design and increasing popularity, plan to sell it to the public
market were considered. Meanwhile, a car called the Continental mark II
was produced by the Continental division which lasted only from April
1955 until July 1956 before it was finally returned under the Lincoln
marque.
In 1998, Lincoln was considered to be the best-selling luxury brand in
the United States and the Lincoln Navigator SUV's success helped in
making it possible. After this peak period for the Lincoln, coming up
with new models was not given much attention that resulted to its slow
fall. The rise and increasing number of Japanese, European and American
car makers made the situation worse for Lincoln to get back in phase.
Sharing with and using Ford's platform, Lincoln is planning to come up
with several new models starting with the new Mark LT pickup and the
revival of the Zephyr name.
