When you are choosing a Land Rover hitch, there are a few things you should take into consideration during the selection process. First, keep in mind what you will be towing after you install a Land Rover hitch.
 Some hitches are intended for light or medium tow jobs, while other heavy duty Land Rover hitches can handle tow loads of up to 30,000 pounds. There are two common types of Land Rover hitch: the weight carrying hitch and the weight distributing hitch. For those light to medium tow loads, you will probably want to invest in a weight carrying Land Rover hitch. A weight carrying Land Rover hitch attaches to the frame of your vehicle. This type of hitch provides a connection point between your vehicle and your tow load. Weight distributing Land Rover hitches, on the other hand, are the best choice for heavy loads. If you will be carting around a trailer full of snowmobiles or a thirty-foot boat, you will want to install a weight distributing Land Rover hitch. This type of hitch contains two parts: the receiver and the spring bar assembly. The receiver of a weight distributing Land Rover hitch bolts onto your vehicle, while the spring bar assembly can be attached to or detached from this permanent feature as needed for your tow loads.
