Honda Intake Manifold
Honda carries a name that’s known for creating environment friendly automobiles.
Accord and Civic are popularly notable for that. The engineers of the company
basically give enough attention to the auto performance aspects that affect the
emission quality. What then are the aspects that affect the emissions system of
the vehicle? Directly affecting this system is the Honda exhaust manifold, for
it is the last route of the exhaust before it’s finally released. But before those
exhaust gases reach the exhaust system or even before the substances needed in
the combustion get into the engine, they first pass through another component
that affects the end result. It’s called as the intake manifold.

A Honda intake manifold that’s installed in any Honda model is responsible of
supplying fuel and or air to the cylinders by the use of runner ports. This auto
part is a system of passages also known as the inlet manifold of the induction
system. The air that enters the cylinders is then mixed with the fuel and is being
set for the combustion process and ultimately for power generation that will run
the machine. Any defect or leak on its passages would affect the amount of hydrogen
and fuel content, which would consequently result to more toxic elements present
in the waste materials. Such trouble could also lead to poor mileage and low engine
performance.
In operation, the intake manifold charges the cylinders with equal amount of
fuel so as strength and quality, for more efficient engine operation that stages
smoothness and even behavior. And then the fuel should be distributed as even
as possible. Fuel charge is very important in the operation, not only its amount
but also on its kind. There are actually ideal types of fuel charges such as dry
fuel vapor. Creating such kind of fuel charge however is possible only with the
presence of high temperature, and most types of fuels prevent such reaction. Depositing
some fuel on the walls of the cylinders and manifold vents is the solution. The
result is reduction of condensed fuel to a minimum amount. This concept then became
the basis of modern intake manifold designs.
Today there are various designs of Honda intake manifolds available in the market.
They are significantly made for specific types of engines. The selection ranges
from Honda tunnel rams, cross rams, open plenums, divided single planes, single
plane with partial divider plate to Honda isolated runner intake manifolds. |
