Honda Gas Tanks
Fuel tanks are indispensable parts of every vehicle, be it a car, truck, van
or SUV. For as long as your vehicle still uses fuel for it to be energized and
run, the fuel tanks would remain to be an essential part of your vehicle. For
this reason, it is important that the fuel tanks be regularly checked so that
it would be free from defects and would always be in good working condition.
Most vehicles manufactured and sold in the US uses unleaded gasoline, or any
other forms of gasoline, so that the most common type of fuel tank found on North
American vehicle is a gas tank. Gas tanks, or gasoline tanks, are fuel tanks containing
the gasoline supply in a car, truck, van, SUV, or other gasoline-engine or gasoline
powered vehicles. There are also other fuel tanks used on other types of vehicles,
although production and sales of such tanks are low in the US. And while these
tanks basically does the same thing as the gas tanks, to store fuel for the vehicle,
structures of these tanks may somewhat vary. Other fuel tanks like diesel tanks,
natural gas tanks and the other tanks used by Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs)
requires different materials or structures to work properly.
Most gas tanks today are mounted at the rear of the chassis under the trunk compartment,
from which a pump would be used to feed the gasoline to the engine. Rear engine
vehicles require a different structure, wherein the gas tank is often mounted
in the forward compartment. Wherever the tank is mounted, it often has the same
configuration, made up of an inlet pipe that allows fuel into the tank, an outlet
pipe that allows fuel to be released to the engine, and various other components
like the drain plug that allows the tank to be drained of fuel and be cleaned.
Honda uses a variety of tanks for their vehicles, each with various sizes, made
from various materials and may be fitted to various vehicle types. In the US,
however, most of these tanks are designed to store gasoline. Honda gas tanks would
usually vary in size, depending mostly on the size of the Honda vehicle to which
it will be fitted into and the fuel consumption characteristics of such vehicle.
Smaller and more fuel efficient Honda cars like the Honda Accord, Honda Civic
and Honda Insight are fitted with smaller gas tanks. Larger and fuel eating Honda
vehicles like the Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline,
on the other hand, are fitted with larger gas tanks. |
