GM Catalytic Converters
Environment protection has been a big discussion since time immemorial. Automobiles
have been tagged as big contributor to the worsening situation of air pollution.
The gases flowing from the exhaust system is a byproduct that harmfully affects
the air we breathe. That is why the catalytic converter was taken upon as a solution
to this predicament. Many states have made this mandatory for all vehicles. This
is to reduce and somewhat halt the worsening dilemma. General Motors has seen
the necessity in saving the environment that is why their vehicles are equipped
with the most efficient catalytic converters available, GM Catalytic converters
provide efficient results and is very durable, with their long list of remarkable
achievements in the field of automobiles, they have poured this experience unto
developing a catalytic converter that will be reliable.
Just what is a catalytic converter and what does it do? A catalytic converter
is part of the vehicle’s exhaust system, it provides an area where a chemical
reaction occurs in which unburned hydrocarbons completely combust to dispose of
harmful toxics, these is where the combustion process is totally completed. Catalytic
Converters are only for gasoline-powered engines; diesel-powered vehicles do not
have this emissions control equipment. Also, one detail became a debated contest;
catalytic converters don’t work with lead, which is why the promotion of unleaded
gasoline became very popular and lead to the demise of the leaded gasoline as
primary choice for gasoline-fed engines. If a GM’s catalytic converter is no longer
in tip-top working condition, it can be replaced with a high-flow unit that is
less restrictive, to decrease backpressure and maximize the vehicle's gas mileage
and performance. Even though in some countries catalytic converters are not mandatory,
it is still a safe bet when you install one in your GM.

A GM catalytic converter may cease to function normally through a couple of ways.
Bodily damage is highly probable. Since it is located below the GM, bumps and
debris on the roads may cause it harm through solid contact. A rupture in your
catalytic converter can shatter the susceptible filtering materials within, causing
a lot of noise and diminishing your car's efficiency to the extent that you may
essentially feel a difference in driving performance. Another reason is over exposure.
Catalytic converters are projected to sieve a specific amount of exhaust, so if
your engine is running insufficiently it might be conveying more pollution into
the catalytic converter than it is designed to process. The result is a congested
catalytic converter that will lessen engine performance and will allow too much
pollution to escape through the exhaust system. Even though a broken catalytic
converter won’t interfere totally with your GM’s driving performance, maintaining
it is still very recommendable. |
