Ford Catalytic Converter

Let’s admit it, everybody wants car. Since the day automobiles have been invented and been introduced in the public, everyone wanted to have one. Through the years, thousands of vehicles were introduced in the market and thousands have cars. Now, it became the common scene on streets and places to swarm with vehicles in different models and platforms. This is also one thing that contributes to pollution. Good thing, catalytic converters are invented to minimize the damage. Ford vehicles are among those that carry high-quality catalytic converters. The company, despite its success never took their responsibilities for granted and their Ford catalytic converters are always designed to do its job; to minimize harmful elements caused by vehicle operations.

Ford Catalytic Converter

Often describe as among the most important part of a vehicle operating system, catalytic converters help clean the exhaust gases produced by vehicles as it burns fuel to operate. Catalytic converters are being installed in the emission systems because a vehicle as it operates emits gases with harmful elements such as hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. Most commonly, catalytic converters are found in the exhaust line between the exhaust manifold and the muffler and use chemicals that act as catalyst. It works in three stages; the reduction catalyst, which is the first stage that uses platinum and rhodium to help reduce the emissions; the oxidization catalyst, which is the second stage reduces the unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide by oxidizing or burning them over a platinum and palladium catalyst; and the latter stage, which is the control system monitors the exhaust stream and uses the information to control the fuel injection system. The control system is an oxygen sensor mounted in the upstream of the catalytic converter and is closer to the engine.

Catalytic converters, as small as it may be, helps so much in the vehicle’s performance and in nature. That’s why it is a must for manufacturers to always include catalytic converters in their vehicle’s specs. You must also know when to replace your vehicle’s catalytic converter so as to maintain its performance and also avoid emission of polluted gases in the environment. If it’s highly efficient and effective catalytic converters you’re looking for, the market can offer you with lots of choices. Wide array of such pieces for you to choose from are available so you can surely find the right one for your Ford trucks, Ford cars, Ford SUVs or Ford pickups. Like other parts, catalytic converters are also available in different variations depending on the application you need. Catalytic converters may vary in makes, sizes and designs. Two main structure types of catalytic converters were also being offered to make the selection process easier. These two structures are the honeycomb and the ceramic beads catalytic converters. But the most commonly use type today is the honeycomb structure type.
