Dodge Caravan Engine Parts
The heart is for the human as the engine is for
the car. Like the heart, the engine is one of the components vitally
needed to give life to the car. Through the complex operations
happening inside the engine, the car is given life by converting
gasoline into motion. Of course the engine cannot stand alone without
the parts making up the system.
The
engine parts are responsible for the conversion of gasoline into
motion. Most combustion process, especially in the case of cars,
happens inside the engine thus most power trains used by vehicles are
internal combustion engine types. Gas turbines, diesel engines, two
stroke engines, HEMI engines and rotary engines are just a few of the
long array of engine types used by various vehicles. Most engines are
made up of spark plug, piston, piston rings, valves, crank shaft, and
connecting rod.
Combustion will not take place without the
spark generated from the spark plugs. However the spark must correspond
with the time of the combustion to avoid hazardous end products that
can negatively affect the environment. The moving cylindrical piece of
metal also needed for successful air and fuel mixture is the piston.
The outer edge of the piston is barred by the piston rings from
touching the inner edge of the cylinder. Aside from this purpose, it
also prevents fuel and air mixture leaks which can cause fire and other
hazardous effects.
The up and down motion of the piston is turned
by the crank shaft into a circular motion to go with the usual flow of
the operation. Connecting the crank shaft to the piston is the
connecting rod. The valves on the other hand ensure the proper sealing
of the combustion chamber. There are two types of valves included in
the engine system, the exhaust valve responsible for the passage of
exhaust out of the car’s system and the intake valves which guard the
entrance point of the fuel and air mixture. |
