Chevy Silverado Parts
There are several reasons why the Chevy Silverado is currently the second best-selling
vehicle in the United States next only to the Ford F-150 pickup. First, the Chevrolet
Silverado is a totally no-nonsense vehicle, with almost all of its parts designed
for a particular function in the total performance of the vehicle. But while the
Silverado is totally functional, it has not lost the aggressive and muscular style
that people love about it. Furthermore, the Chevy Silverado is powerful, equipped
with the most powerful engines that Chevrolet has ever built.
The Chevy Silverado is a line of full-size pickup trucks manufactured and sold
by General Motors since 1999 up to the present. It is the direct descendant of
the Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks that was manufactured by the same company since
1930 until the Silverado replaced it. Actually, one can find a lot of resemblance
between the two pickup trucks, although the Chevy Silverado is admittedly more
refined and performs better. A heavy-duty version of the vehicle, called the Chevy
Silverado HD, was also introduced in 2001 and is still currently being manufactured
and sold in the United States of America.
The entire Chevy Silverado vehicle line-up may be classified into two - the light-duty
versions and the heavy-duty versions. The light-duty Chevy Silverado pickup truck
was the one introduced since 1999 and is currently available in 1500 and SS trim
levels. Aside from these trim levels, the Chevy Silverado comes in various packages
like the Work Truck Package, Base, LS, Z71, and LT packages. It also comes in
regular, extended and half-ton Crew Cab configurations. Engine options include
a variety of V86 and V8 engines, starting with the Vortec 4300 V6 to the powerful
Vortec 6000 V8.

The heavy-duty versions, often called the Chevy Silverado HD, were the ones introduced
in 2001 and replaced the heavy-duty versions of the Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks.
Currently, there are three vehicles available in this version, namely the Silverado
1500HD, 2500HD and 3500. All comes in basically the same package and configurations
as the light-duty models. But since the Silverado HD is expected to perform heavy-duty
functions, it is also expected that it is equipped with more rigid and higher
performance Chevy Silverado parts. Engine options for the Silverado HD are also
more powerful, like the Vortec 6000 and Vortec 6600 V8 engines, and the more powerful
Duramax 6600 turbo diesel and Vortec 8100 V8 for the 3500 versions.
There is only one thing to remember whenever one has to install a Chevy Silverado
part in their vehicles, and that is that the Chevy Silverado is a heavy-duty vehicle.
This means that replacement, repair, performance, or custom Chevy Silverado parts
that would be installed in the Silverado must be rigid enough to outlast the damages
that may be bought by the vehicle’s performance and must perform in a way that
it would complement the over-all performance of the truck. |
