Chevrolet Malibu Hubcaps

The simple fact that the Chevrolet Malibu is an entry level car can already tell us two things about the car's style. First, that the Chevrolet Malibu is a very simple car. Entry level cars are always expected to sport a very simple but practical design, without much of the styling accessories that make other vehicles cost higher. The other thing that the fact tells us is that there are a lot of ways to make the Chevrolet Malibu more stylish. An addition to that is the fact that even the smallest and most affordable styling components can make the Chevrolet Malibu look a whole lot better.

There are many affordable styling accessories available for the Chevrolet Malibu and one of them is the Chevrolet Malibu hubcaps. A hubcap, or hub cap, is a decorative disk attached on a vehicle's wheel to cover all the lug nuts that attach the wheel to its axle. Some people would use the term hub cap and wheel cover interchangeably. Technically, however, the two are different styling components. While hub caps would only cover the center of the wheel, or the hub, wheel covers would cover the entire wheel. Nonetheless, both are styling components that can easily make a car look more stylish and luxurious.

 

In the past, when steel was still the usual material used on vehicle wheels, hubcaps would usually be offered as standard equipments for most vehicles. Then, hubcaps were used to cover the crude appearance of the steel wheels. Auto manufacturers then, and even now, would even include their company trademark, symbol or logo in the hubcaps that come with their vehicle's wheels. Today, however, when aluminum has taken the place of steel as the favored material for the manufacture of wheels, hubcaps are no longer as popular. Aluminum wheels that we have today already come in stylish designs and elegant finishes, thus no longer needing a hub cap to make them look stylish.

Most Chevrolet Malibu models today are no longer equipped with steel wheels, but the base model is. This base Chevy Malibu model is therefore equipped with bolt-on Chevrolet Malibu hubcaps or wheel covers as standard equipments. But aside from the stock Chevy Malibu hubcap that bears the Chevrolet logo, one can also find a lot of custom Chevrolet Malibu hubcaps in the market that have unique and stylish designs.
