In this animation, the red gears and shafts represent the path of the
power being transferred within a four speed manual transmission. As the
shifter goes through the shift pattern, the shifter forks move the
synchronizers, which couple the shafts to the gears. Reverse is
accomplished by moving the reverse gear into mesh with its idler gears.
