A tailgate, or sometimes the hatch, is a hinged board or door at the rear of a vehicle that can be moved up or down during loading and unloading. Also called a tailboard, it is commonly found in pickup trucks or hatchback vehicles.

This truck tailgate panel consists of an inner and outer glass fiber composite panel bonded together, along with a toughened and heated window glass attached to the outer surface. A striker pin at each rear corner of the truck tailgate engages with a spring loaded latch plate on the body, with a single release cable operating both latches and terminating in release handle on the driver's side of the cabin rear bulkhead.

A multipurpose pickup tailgate comprises mainly of a bed and a tailgate mounted on it. One part is a first panel member. The structure mounts the first panel member at the bed of the truck by sliding it. The first panel member can be extended as the tailgate opens. And at the free end of the first panel member, a second panel member is coupled with it. So goes the third panel member, which is coupled with the free end of the second panel member. An assembly pivots the first panel member on the sliding mounting structure.

The first panel member, along with the second panel member and the third panel mamber, can be positioned in many angles at the opened tailgate, suited for different uses. The pickup tailgate is strategically assembled for durability and and various purposes.
